Weingut Salzl
	The Estate Salzl-Seewinkelhof is located in the small village of Illmitz, on the southeastern shore of the Neusiedlersee. 3 generations work all on the same target: to achieve maximum of quality in producing great wines which are second to none on the international scene.Tradition with over 150 years of wine making, modern business methods and terroir are the ingredients. Careful use of soil, vine and grape, love of nature and the vineyards integrate into a product of great character and outstanding quality. The vineyards cover a total area of over 35 ha, with more than 70 % of the estates sites are grown with red wine, main grape is the typical Austrian grape of Zweigelt. Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Shiraz contribute to an excellent range. A particular mention must be given to the Cuveé produded by Salzl called Pannoterra, one of the best Cuveé's produced in Austria. On white wine, Chardonna is the most important grape. What has been prepared in the vineyard over the season is completed in the cellar. Modern technology, computer controlled cellars and centuary old knowledge contribute to gentle processing methods. The Estate has over the years achieved many awards and prizes for its wines, most recently wine guides like Gault Millau, Falstaff and A la Carte have recognised the work in vineyard and cellar, with particular emphasis on the red wines. Illmitz is not only a great wine village, it is also an excellent destination to stay and enjoy all the beauty of lake and region, wine and good food. The Estate includes a 4 star Guesthouse and Restaurant with outdoor pool and leisure centre. The ideal base for walking and cycling tours, just messing about on the lake or enjoying the region on horse back.
