The estate Wagner-Stempel is further proof that the combination of tradition, generation-old experience and modern business methods agree with each other and lead to success. The word success defined as the result of striving to produce great wines.
In 1993 Daniel Wagner has taken over the family business and implemented since than very successfully his philosophy of terroir-stamped wines with individual characters. Built in 1855, now in the 8th generation, the estate produces constantly high quality wine, Daniel won the 'German Riesling Prize' in 2003.

Wines from the estate are served in leading Hotels and Restaurants, like in the Hyatt Regency in Mainz or in the Restaurant of one of the leading Golf Clubs in Germany, GC Gut Lärchenhof, where the European Tour Event German Masters have been played several times.

The estate is a member of the VDP, a group of some of the top estates in Germany.
Quality is produced in the vineyard - the winemaker has his priority set with a sensitive care for the vineyard, using traditional methods of manual labour with healthy soil and balanced growth. Selective harvest by hand is as self understood as finely tuned traditional methods on production in the cellar, and - pending on the grape - finishing in stainless steel or wooden barrels.

The vineyard with its ca. 12 ha grows classical grape types, dominated by Riesling, other types include Silvaner, Spaetburgunder and Saint Laurent. Famous sites are Hoellberg Siefersheim, and Heerkretz.
Wagner-Stempel produces some excellent Riesling wines called 'Grosses Gewaechs, a classification by the VDP and comparable with the Grand Crus. Parameters include lowest yields from old vines, classified patches of the leading sites, selection of fully ripened grapes by hand and gentle finishing.

The estate has been complimented recently by a comfortable and traditionally styled Guesthouse, to accomondate customers and visitors which like to make the estate their base to explore the area. Being a family business, the Guesthouse is managed by Lore Wagner, her hospitality and welcoming nature form part of the ambience of the estate.

Siefersheim, located in an area named 'Rheinhessische Schweiz', due to the hilly and rolling country side, has a multitude of nature resorts nearby which invite activities like horse trailing, walking/cycling or visiting some of the many wine festivals in the area. Many attractive golfcourses are nearby.

If the Guesthouse of the estate is booked out, as it is often the case, we recommend the Countryhouse Hotel Espenhof, not far away.
