Hot Days, Cool Nights
The estate cultivates in natural and integrated vineyards where mostly Grüner Veltliner and Riesling are grown.
The richness of materials in the wines is due to the soil of primary rocks (weather-worn granite). Also the micro-climate of the Kremstal and the huge impact of intense heat in the summer and severe cold in the winter have a decisive influence on the wine. It is quite common that hot summer days are followed by cool night temperatures coming from the Waldviertel. Consequently the grape skins, streched by the warm sunlight during the day, can easily absorb the manifold flavours of the cool nights.

Duty and Discretion
The process of cultivating white wines in steel casks is an absolute must - even though the most impostant development obviously takes place in the vineyards. The wine cannot be improved in the wine-cellar but is preserved, which in itself demands great care.
Martin Nigl: „It does not take much to produce a strong wine in the wine-cellar containing 14% alcohol. The skill is to develop a 12% wine and rack it, with all the goodness the grapes bring along from the vineyard: fruit, finesse, elegance, density and mineral content"

The Estate includes a Country House Hotel and Restaurant, which makes Estate Nigl the ideal place to taste wine, relay and enjoy the beautiful Kremstal and is also a good base for daytrips to Vienna and other famous Austrian sightseeing spot.
The approach to Hotel Nigl opens the door on a different world. The hotel is situated in the midst of beautiful vineyards, embedded in ancient cultural landscape. Hotel Nigl can be found at the bottom of the old ruins of Senftenberg, surrounded by healthy forests, rolling hills and terraced vineyards.
